VPPSA Salvage Yard Solar

Encore developed a 3.3MW community solar array on an underutilized brownfield site in Morrisville, Vermont. The project is part of the partnership between Encore Renewable Energy and the Vermont Public Power Supply Authority (“VPPSA”), which was formed to pursue the development, financing and construction of approximately 10 MW of solar capacity on behalf of VPPSA’s municipal utility members. The project is located in a commercial district of Morrisville, Vermont and will allow the landowner family to remain on their land while also providing a means of the environmental remediation required to achieve regulatory closure of this family-owned former auto salvage facility which served the local community for decades.

The project was awarded Editor’s Pick for Best Re-use of Land by Solar Builder Magazine and was commissioned in September 2021.
