Pleasant Street Solar

Pleasant Street Solar is a 3MW solar array developed by Encore Renewable Energy in Wilton, Maine. The project is located on 14.75 acres of privately owned pasture land off Pleasant Street, east of the Temple Street intersection. Once complete, the project will deliver power to Central Maine Power Company, which will in turn allocate the clean power to electric customers in Southern Maine.

The Maine solar market is entering a period of significant expansion. According to SEIA’s Solar Market Insights Report, Maine is projected to develop 1,539 MW over the next 5 years. To put this into perspective, this additional generation capacity is significantly more than the output of the Seabrook 1 nuclear plant by the New Hampshire sea coast, New England’s single largest power plant (which took 14 years to build and cost ratepayers $17 billion in 2021 dollars-equivalent).

The Pleasant Street Solar  project is part of 15MW worth of projects in active development by Encore in Maine.
