Encore is working with Green Mountain Power(GMP) to deliver energy storage services from multiple Battery Energy Storage Systems that will be developed by Encore and financed by a third party owner/operator. The energy storage services provided to GMP will reduce their exposure to peak demand events within the regional system.
By calling on the batteries during the monthly and yearly peak events, GMP will be able to reduce their costs associated with the Regional Network System (RNS) and New England ISO. These projects are also part of GMP’s recently announced Climate Plan, which is intended to improve both the reliability and the resiliency of GMP’s local distribution grid. The battery projects will each have a power capacity of 5MW and an energy storage capacity of 20 MWh, enabling them to discharge at full power for 4-hours when called upon.
