City of South Burlington Landfill

Encore developed a 2.2MW net metered solar array at the City of South Burlington’s closed and capped landfill. The project was commissioned on October 4, 2017. The array will generate net metering credits for the City of South Burlington and South Burlington School District that will result in the savings of several million dollars in electric costs for City taxpayers over the course of the contract. The project is the direct result of significant legislative effort championed by Encore to allow for larger scale net metering projects on closed landfills in Vermont. Encore was responsible for end-to-end project development efforts, including design, permitting and the competitive procurement of project financing.
