Chris Clement

Chief Financial Officer & Chief Investment Officer

Chris Clement is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Investment Officer at Encore Renewable Energy, leading the company’s financial strategy, capital formation, project finance and corporate investment activities. Over the past four years, he has played a central role in Encore’s growth—securing more than $600 million in equity and project financing to accelerate Encore’s evolution into a leading distributed solar and energy storage IPP.

Chris brings nearly two decades of experience spanning finance, banking, and consulting in support of the clean energy transition. At Encore, he blends strategic vision, a partnership approach to capital formation and disciplined financial management to advance the company’s impact and financial mission and create long-term value for our community, commercial and financial partners.

Chris is a PhD-trained economist and National Science Foundation Fellow, having completed his doctorate at the University of Vermont with a focus on the renewable energy transition in Vermont. Prior to joining Encore, he advised impact-driven clean energy and climate technology companies in investment banking roles, including as founder of Deep Impact Capital. He began his career in renewable energy as an economist with AECOM’s Sustainable Development Group, working on utility-scale and community-scale renewable energy projects and climate policy worldwide.

Chris holds dual master’s degrees from Yale University—an MBA from the School of Management and a Master of Environmental Management from the School of the Environment—as well as a BS with honors in Environmental Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Earlier in his career, he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in El Salvador specializing in agroforestry systems, and he has worked across North America, South and Central America, Africa, and the Middle East.
