Several of Encore Renewable Energy’s current ventures in Southwest Vermont were recently featured by Jim Therrien in the Bennington Banner. Therrien’s article “Two Solar Projects Underway in Bennington” highlighted the pre-construction phase on two 735kWp / 500kWac solar arrays located in Bennington. The Town of Bennington, which is purchasing the net metering credits from one of the community-scale solar PV projects, will realize a substantial monetary savings on its electric bills as a result. Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, the purchaser of the credits in the second project, anticipates annual savings approximating $20,000 per year.
Derek Moretz, Encore’s Chief Development Officer, remarked that “we have been working on these projects for some time with the town and other stakeholders, including the Agency of Natural Resources and the Public Service Board.” Moretz indicated “work on the two arrays in Bennington is expected to continue through July when they will go online, providing solar-generated power to Green Mountain Power through the grid.”
