3 Questions to get to know Nate
What does a sustainable future mean to you?
I aim to consider the holistic meaning of sustainability. This doesn’t just refer to renewable energy, and carbon emissions (though in our industry that’s a huge part of correcting the impacts of climate change). Cultivating long-term success for human societies comes with the responsibility of environmental stewardship, supporting continued progress through economic viability, and, most importantly, promoting equal access to the benefits of sustainability through social justice and elevated ethical standards.
What’s your favorite way to spend time outside?
As a solo adventurer I seek gravity sports for my own enjoyment, of which Vermont offers many; I’ve recently committed to mountain biking in the summer, and have a long lasting affinity for downhill skiing and boarding.
The majority of my outdoor time is spent with my family these days, and while I enjoy a solo trip, my absolute favorite outdoor activity is introducing the next generation of Vermonters to new regions, or activities that get them immersed in our wilderness and community.
What’s a great book or podcast you’ve engaged with recently?
My family thrives on podcasts and audio books when we’re not reading bedtime stories. A personal favorite of each are the Harry Potter series read by Jim Dale, as well as almost any topic covered by Steven Bartlett on Diary of a CEO.
