Colin Diamond joined the Encore team as Director of Project Estimation and Procurement in April 2023. Colin always thought electricity was magic, and the fact that we can make it from the sun made solar an easy career path to choose from a young age. He started his solar journey in 2014 in clean energy advocacy for the Nonprofit Network for a Sustainable Tomorrow based in Binghamton, New York. Once graduating college, he took his career to Colorado. He started there in residential solar, where he was directly responsible for over 450 Colorado homeowners’ decisions to go solar before moving into the Commercial scale space.
Colin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from SUNY Binghamton and brings a wealth of knowledge to Encore that brings invaluable experience to this multifaceted role. He took (and still takes) the time to learn everything he can, and continue to use that knowledge to try and make a difference in the world that we all live in.
3 Questions to get to know Colin
What does a sustainable future mean to you?
A sustainable future means harmony and respect. If we are going to ever become truly sustainable, humanity needs to understand the balance of the environment, and create systems that utilize the framework that already exists around us without exploiting or destroying it.
What’s your favorite way to spend time outside?
I am an avid hiker, and a big reason I came back to NY was to once again enjoy the old growth forests and creeks that I missed dearly while in CO.
What’s a great book or podcast you’ve engaged with recently?
To be honest, I’m not much of a reader, and the podcasts I listen to are for entertainment so I’m going to take this a different direction. Practicing gratitude and thankfulness for the things we have and the small things that make you smile I have found to be a really helpful way to making someone a happier person in general. Something that helps me with that, is music. What you put into your ears affects the way you think. I encourage everyone to take the time and listen to some songs by Nahko and Medicine For the People: here is one of my favorites.
